FAQ
- What is TotalRecalls?
- A small Windows app that downloads and saves your ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Grok conversations into a private folder on your computer — readable Markdown + JSON you keep forever.
- How much does it cost?
- $24 launch price. One-time purchase. No subscription. No monthly "AI archive" fee.
- Do I need an account?
- No. TotalRecalls does not require a TotalRecalls account. You sign in only to the AI providers you already use.
- Do you store my chats or tokens?
- No. Your AI session tokens stay on your machine. We never host your chats, your exports, or your credentials.
- Does TotalRecalls run in the cloud?
- No. It's a local Windows app. Exports land in a folder you choose on your PC.
- What providers are supported?
- ChatGPT · Claude · Perplexity · Gemini (via Google Takeout or local sign-in) · Grok.
- How do exports work?
- Open the app
- Pick a provider
- Sign in locally (or choose a Gemini Takeout folder)
- Export — your chats appear as Markdown + JSON under a Library/ folder
- Does this replace official exports?
- No — official exports are fine for compliance dumps. TotalRecalls is for a usable personal archive you can browse, search, and back up.
- Is the app safe?
- Yes. But because the build is not yet code-signed, Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Click More info → Run anyway if you trust this download from totalrecalls.app. Smart App Control on Surface devices may block unsigned apps with no override. Code-signing is on the roadmap.
- Does it work on Mac?
- Not yet. Mac support will be added if demand is real.
- Does it work on mobile?
- No. Windows only.
- What's inside the ZIP?
- TotalRecalls.exe · README.txt · LICENSE.txt. No installers. No background services. No telemetry.
- Will future features cost extra?
- The $24 launch price covers the core export tool. Advanced features (semantic search, Obsidian/Notion sync, RAG containers, multi-device memory) may be optional upgrades later.
- Can I get help?
- Yes — see the guides: ChatGPT export, Claude Projects, Perplexity threads, Gemini Takeout, Multi-assistant workflows. Visit Help & Guides.
